Measurement Menace Crap of the Week
Somebody please tell General Sentiment that their AVE-based Media Value "measurement" product was voted off the island last week in Barcelona. (See the Barcelona research principles, global standards for public relations measurement.)
What's worse, General Sentiment is waving about their bogus estimate of BP's "brand value being lost" to goose the media into noticing them. Crap like this distorts reality, deludes the masses, and does nothing more than win publicity for its creators. It's obvious here that General Sentiment is juicing the BP brand scare to tout themselves.
The really sad thing is that it would be very interesting to track BP's brand value during their current crisis. But sludge like this from General Sentiment just muddies the water. -- Bill Paarlberg, Editor
(Note: Katie Delahaye Paine (publisher of The Measurement Standard) and KDPaine & Partners (the company that writes my paycheck) offer public relations measurement and social media measurement services. Services that may complete with those of General Sentiment. If General Sentiment offers any valid measurement services.)
