This blog was born at the New Communications Forum last week in Palo Alto. Although most of the folks were there to learn about the hows, whys, and wherefores of business blogging, I was most impressed by the passion that the attendees brought to their blogs. And when Shel Israel and Robert Scoble talked about passion and loving your product, I started thinking about what else I was passionate about -- and wanted to start conversations about. And for me, the logical answer was surviving and thriving.
I'm part of an amazing group of breast cancer survivors known as "Breast Friends." This isn't the sort of group that sits around and worries about surviving. It's the sort that makes things happen so that more people can survive. They're one of the reasons I'm writing this blog, because I know that they're not the only ones who could use more conversation about surviving and thriving the various things that life puts in your way while you're making other plans. The other reason is that I'm a recovering journalist and have this compulsion to write about whatever hits me in the shower each morning.
So come along for the ride, join the conversation, and share your stories.
Katie,
Thanks for visiting my blog (http://rtfax.blogspot.com) about my "unwanted journey" with battling rectal cancer. Shel Israel has commented a couple times now on my blog, something which I greatly appreciate. It's good to see that another "circle of touch" has been enabled through that connection. You might want to let Shel know that we have connected because of him. I'll see Shel tonight in Toronto and will mention our conversation.
Best of luck to you, Katie, as you survive not only cancer but the other challenges you mention in your profile and first blog post.
If you're interested, I'd like to invite you to guest blog for me with a tribute to your friend that you mentioned in your comment on my blog. Give it some thought.
