Booz Allen Hamilton has come up with an interesting book on the new CMO. Edited by my friend and mentor, Geoffrey Precourt, CMO Thought Leaders features interviews with some of the leading CMO's in the country. In a marketing environment that is changing so quickly, it's hard to keep things current, but the conclusion is clear:The customer is in charge. I was prepared to be skeptical since the book is essentially interviews with pretty main stream marketers -- Beth Comstock at NBC, (a BIG measurement maven), Jerri DeVard at Verizon, James R. Stengel at P&G. I was pleasantly surprise and it's refreshing to know that most of these leading CMOs really get it. I'll admit I haven't finished the book yet, but it's an easy read. Take it to the beach.
