In just 15 months, The Social Media Measurement Standards Conclave has developed, proposed, and in some cases finalized standards for social media content, engagement, reach & impressions. They’ll be getting out the standards for influence, sentiment, advocacy, and value between now and June. So yes, Virginia, there are standards for social media measurement.
While the Conclave has been busy tackling social media standards, the Coalition has been setting standards for traditional PR measurement.

Nielsen acquired SocialGuide, a leading provider of social TV measurement, analytics, and audience engagement solutions. Thompson Reuters bought RedEgg, the purveyors of MyMediaInfo. Nasdaq purchased all of Thompson Reuter’s PR services, including merging it into its division that already included Glide Technologies.
Two of the largest assocations in the field, AMEC and FIBEP, announced that they have begun merger talks.
It took awhile, but more and more companies are adopting and agreeing to abide by The Barcelona Principles, putting what we sincerely hope is the final nail in the coffin of Ad Value Equivalency.
