For the fifth fall in a row, the crème de la crème of the research, measurement and corporate communications community will be in Portsmouth NH, for the IPR's annual Measurement Summit.
We started this event as The Summit on the Future of Measurement five years ago (back when we were Delahaye Medialink, which is now Cision) with the idea of bringing all the measurement mavens together to find out what the future looked like. We turned it over to the IPR in 2004 and it just keeps getting better and better every year.
Below are some highlights of the conference, you can find the complete agenda here. And if you'd like to start planning your extra-curricular activities, see Bill Paarlberg's list of the best non-Summit things to do while you are in town.
Wednesday: Pre-Conference Workshops
This
year, the introductory Measurement 101 workshop
is expanding to include advanced Measurement 201 and 301 classes,
taught by David
Geddes of Fleishman Hillard, Angela Jeffrey of
VMS,
Brad Rawlins, Don Stacks, Don
Wright and myself, yours truly.
Thursday: Official Opening Day
Proceedings
kick off on Thursday morning with a panel of experts breaking down
corporate silos and talking about an integrated approach to communications
measurement. Once again the Australian measurement god, Jim
Macnamara will be on hand to provide a global perspective.
At
Thursday lunch is the annual Jack Felton Golden Ruler of
Measurement Award ceremony.
We'll
then get treated to a case study, featuring Andrew Bernstein of
Cymfony, on how Microsoft uses
media measurement to track its reputation.
Thursday
afternoon I moderate a very exciting panel on social media
measurement. We will for once and for all answer the
question, "Do
we need to measure social media, and if so how?" Shel
Israel will
be standing up for the "Who needs measurement anyway?" perspective,
while Todd Parsons, co-founder of BuzzLogic, takes
the "Of course it's
all measurable" approach. Measurement advocate Kami
Huyse,
will join the fray arguing that it's not about the size of your
measurement program but what you do with it that matters.
Also
Thursday afternoon Jonathan Low and Pamela
Cohen of
CCW discuss their predictive model approach to reputation measurement.
Friday
Friday
morning will be a look at measurement from the military perspective
with Don
Stacks moderating a panel that features Mike
Daily of the U.S. Marines, and representatives
from the Army and the Air Force.
Finally, Lee Aase and Angie Jeffrey wrap up the program with a discussion of measurement in the non-profit sector.
And lest you think that measurement mavens are all work and no play, there's the Portsmouth Harbor Cruise on Wednesday night and the lobster clambake at my house on Thursday. If you haven't made your reservations yet, call or email Michelle Hinson today.
