My friend Becky passed along this great info for folks who's tumors are estrogen receptive positive on what to eat to prevent cancer reoccurrence:
Ever since getting off tamoxifen (in september) i have been afraid of my breast pain (and of course breast cancer) returning. In October the pain returned. it is probably very much like the breast pain i had for decades that was 'normal', but tamoxifen had relieved it entirely and that relief brought me a lot of peace. i know for certain that the worst breast pain in my life coincided with the onset
of my tumor. My tumor was dated at two years old and two years before my diagnosis i had so much pain that i saw a doctor for it.
So i associate the pain with cancer, justifiably. Unreassured by my doctors, ("watchful waiting" was
recommended-- OY!) the recent pain sent me looking for help in medical journal articles i have accumulated. One was particularly helpful, (Nutritional Influences on Estrogen Metabolism, by Douglas Hall MD, Applied Nutritional Science Reports, 2001) although the technical language was a hard slog one thing is clear: Whole grain brown rice helps prevent your body from reabsorbing estrogen three weeks after I started eating 1-2 servings of brown rice per day the pain was dramatically reduced. I just checked the web, since my article is a little old, and found this:

I'm thinking that my tumor was negative on receptors but now I have to check that out.
There's this fuzzy memory of being told something like: negative was a positive thing but this has all been such a whirlwind for me I don't remember some of the details.
Hopefully the oncologist I see tomorrow will be slow and careful and able to explain it ALL. If not off I go to oncologist #2.

Susan, that is SO very common, in fact we're thinking about putting out a card as part of Fill the Gap that has places to write this stuff down. I still have to look my diagnosis on www.breastcancerstories.com to check :)

In our lives, we suffer a lot.. We walk through on several trials, that causes us to give up. Sometimes we think life is so unfair because of the hindrance we've been through. We struggle a lot to survive, but when things went wrong and everything is gone, we find someone to blame on and ask "why me?"..But things are just not constant, things may come and go, if not today, tommorrow, or never. But we need to value things that comes along our way, looking back the past may serve as our guidance to a new and better path forward..
