FIrst of all, Prince Edward Island is paradise,
and Charlottetown is a wonderful place for a conference. IMG_0830 Note to conference organizers, the PEI Tourism folks have some eye-popping statistics on how having a conference here increases attendance. And no wonder, the conference center is right on the water, there are a dozen fabulous restaurants within a short walk, the shopping is great, and it has some of the best running routes anywhere.
Secondly, for us measurement geeks, I have never attended a general communications conference in which so many people are so interested in measaurement. Just a few of the introductory sentences said to me last night were: "I am SO into meausrement" "Can't wait to hear your talk we LOVE measurement in my organization" "Can't wait to learn more about measurement tomorrow" Okay, so they're Canadians, and they do love their metrics up here, and maybe its because they have a better K-12 education system than we do, but whatever the reason the enthusiasm is infectious and very fun. And, in case you're wondering what I'm talking about, here is the presentation I gave to the 100+ travel and tourism marketers gathered here Download GoMedia Full Monday Presentation
Finally, they really do know how to party. Last night's opening reception offered all the PEI oysters and mussels I've ever wanted to eat, toe-tapping Acadian music, yummy Acadian specialies and local potatoes that were the best I've ever eaten, slatered in lobster sauce.
