In surveys like this I always want to know who these people really are -- the 38% that see social media as the biggest threat to PR. Fortunately 71% said that it reprended the biggest opportunity. (I know that adds up to 109% but who's counting?)

Hmmm... These people have a sound reason why they consider social media as a threat. Social media is a very potent marketing tool these days. One great asset of such a tool is that it is capable of reaching a large audience at a relatively minimal cost, when compared to print advertising and television commercials.

Social Media marketing is designed to "get the word out". Being vetted by a community of members may yield more truth than is comfortable for some people/parties/brands.
