For months it seems that every week has brought a new addition to the social media monitoring space. And while marketing organzations, printers of marketing materials and bloggers have hailed the growth in the space, clients have been getting more and more confused. Those of us who use these services on behalf of our clients have been close to throwing up our hands up, saying "Whatever" and using a dartboard to make our recommendations. But we have, nonetheless, sat thru the demos, asked the questions and then dutifully added whatever the latest entrant is to the too-long list of possible vendors we now have to advise our clientn about. At night we secretly prayed that VCs woudl grow impatient and that the inevitable consolidation would begin and make our jobs easier. Yesterday's
Techrigy Acquisition by Alterian may be the first sign that our prayers will be answered.

Hi Katie,
Yes, the myriad of options is definitely overwhelming. And then there's the learning curve.
I spoke at a PRSA sponsored event this week in MPLS & only 1 person had seen/heard of a professional tool. So we're only on the iceberg of building awareness & educating (much less the decision on what to choose).
Thank you for linking to the info on the Techrigy acquisition. We're excited about the opportunity to take Techrigy's versatile tool to the next level in social media monitoring & analytics!
