And you thought PR research was boring

    • Miami_001
Live, from poolside in Miami -- its the International Public Relations Research Conference! Most of the luminaries in public relations research will be sharing their most recent results over the next few days. At night the talk about ways to evaluate our work continues with the creativity of the metrics increasing in direct correlation with the amount of alcohol consumed.

I am truly blessed with a few tremendous friends

To quote my friend Cormac McCarthy's wonderful song "A little something"  (on Curious Thing)  -- I am truly blessed with a few tremendous friends who came forward over the weekend and helped me raise over $10,000 to save the farm. So not only did we pay all the back taxes, we'll be able to pay the 2007 taxes as well.
What was even more moving were the expressions of thanks from former employees and friends that I've helped over the years. I've always said that making a difference is what makes me get up in the morning, and what keeps me going when life looks bleak. What I heard yesterday was that I'd made a much bigger difference in many more lives than I ever realized. Thank you to everyone for all your expressions of support, both verbal and financial.
Now, lets see how long it takes the bank to realize that true community will always triumph.

$125,000! That's truly amazing. I admit I'd never heard of this blog or the troubled property prior to reading an article in last week's Union Leader. Talk about marketing!

I just hope you can manage to make your mortgage and tax payments going forward, or else all this hard work will have been in vain!

Maybe you could sell off some land to your neighbors?

Congratulations, Katie. I am just now catching up on this story, but am thrilled for you that you were able to save the farm. Happy day for us Granite Staters.

It is not surprising to me that people who have not been to gathering after gathering at Shankhassick would not "get" it. This is not the way the world works these days, but it IS the way the world works at Shankhassick; without question and without expecting return, everyone helps everyone. To make and share good music -- to champion a cause that is meaningful --to raise money to support those doing good in the world -- to help a friend in a tight spot.

Yesterday I was struck with how many communities of my own friends and loved ones are "headquartered" at Shankhassick. If the truth be told - we all did not do this for Katie. We did it for ourselves. It's just that we all love Katie because she makes it happen. Thanks, Katie, for allowing us to help out.

blessed?? how about selling off that $10,000 car you have... living within your means! Please do not sell your wares in BML... it smells of a 'too good to be true' story where more people get let down.
