I was just about to start a rant about GM's stupidity in attempting to threaten the media by pulling their ads, when a friend sent along this wonderful piece by Alex Beam at the Boston Globe. All I can say is Alex, you just took the words out of my mouth.
My other favorite line of the week: In comments about the differences between British English and American English, a local comic recently noted...
---For instance, Americans say "elevator" and we say "lift."
Americans say "President" and we say "psychotic nutcase."---

Enjoy your emails and find them enlightenting.
However, I must quibble about your judgment to use an unnamed comic's jibe at our President.
Don't know what your politics are, and it doesn't matter -- nevertheless, it was in poor taste to take a back door insult on our President. It's funny when Leno and Letterman poke fun, but not when you lend credence to a foreigner's remarks. Furthermore, the jibe did not add to your rant about GM's decision stated above.
